Attention Manitoba farmers! If you've been looking for a way to level up your farm’s soil stewardship, boost biodiversity, and get some financial backing to do it, your window of opportunity is officially open.

Manitoba Organics (MO) is happy to announce the return of our Cost-Share Funding Program for 2026. Thanks to continued support from the Conservation Trust (Manitoba Habitat Conservancy), funding is available to help local producers plan and implement sustainable, on-farm projects.

Here is everything you need to know to secure your funding before the June 30th, 2026 deadline.

What’s Covered? (2026 Program Updates)

Approved cost-shared activities include, but are not limited to:

  • Fencing and watering systems for livestock integration including infrastructure for Custom Grazing Partnerships

  • Perennial crops for grazing, seed production, and/or green manure (this includes the rent or purchase of pollinator services/equipment)

  • Multi-species cover crops established for grazing, seed, eco-buffer or green manure

Important Update for 2026: Please note that single-species cover crops (outside of perennials) are not eligible for funding this year.

Funding Tiers: How Much Can You Receive?

The program operates on a 50:50 cost-share ratio, meaning we will match your investment dollar-for-dollar up to a certain cap. The funding caps are based on your project's acreage:

Project Size

Maximum Funding Cap

Under 40 acres

Up to $2,000

Between 40 and 160 acres

Up to $6,000

Over 160 acres

Up to $10,000

Eligibility: Do You Qualify?

  • You do not have to be a certified organic producer to apply! Any Manitoba farmer interested in soil health and biodiversity is welcome.

  • Priority Applicants: Priority will be given to first-time applicants to ensure a fair and inclusive distribution of resources.

  • Past Recipients: If you have received funding from this program in the past, you can still reapply, but only if your new project is proposed for a entirely different parcel of land.

Approval Turnaround

Manitoba Organics is committing to a swift turnaround time to get your projects moving. You will receive your funding agreement within 30 days of submitting a completed application.

Project Completion

Upon project completion, Manitoba Organics will ask you to submit documentation including but not limited to:

  • Two Project Images

  • All relevant invoices and receipts

  • Total number of acres impacted (and total miles of fencing for applicants who apply for that category)

  • Legal land description where the project took place
